Kavitha to sue Delhi BJP leaders for false charges in liquor case
TRS MLC Kalvakuntala Kavitha has decided to sue Delhi BJP leaders for defamation following their accusations against her in connection with the Delhi liquor scam
HYDERABAD: TRS MLC Kalvakuntala Kavitha has decided to sue Delhi BJP leaders for defamation following their accusations against her in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. A complaint will be lodged against BJP MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Sirsa for defamation.
MLC Kavitha also intends to file a petition for an injunction against the individuals for making the charges against her. She has decided to sue the BJP leaders after they accused on Sunday that she had played a key role in the multi-crore liquor policy scam involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
However, MLC Kavitha on Monday denied all the allegations here, saying that she had nothing to do with the Delhi liquor scam. She claimed that BJP officials were making absurd accusations against her just because she is the daughter of KCR. "By targeting me, they think they can stifle KCR's voice in his fight against the Centre's policies.
"BJP leaders are notorious for carrying out smear campaigns. They are resorting to conspiracies of this nature in their bid to dent my morale and thus force KCR on to the backfoot. The BJP designs cannot affect KCR and his fight against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre", she said.
Stating that the TRS and KCR had encountered several such conspiracies at the height of the separate statehood agitation, Kavitha asserted that she and her party would continue to fight on issues like the injustice done to Bilkis Bano, release of her rapists and the Modi government's failure to create employment.
The TRS MLC said that when her party was posing pointed questions, the BJP and its NDA government was only resorting to mud-slinging in return. The people are keenly observing the BJP's machinations, she claimed.
Kavitha also asserted that she and her father were ready to face any inquiry and said that the opposition parties could not be intimidated if the Centre tried to use investigating agencies against them.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged Sisodia and others, including Hyderabad-based Arun Ramachandran Pillai, with financial violations in implementing the national capital's new liquor policy.
Advocates in Nampallly court burned the effigies of BJP MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Sirsa for bringing baseless allegations against TRS MLC K Kavitha.
