HYDERABAD: Four days after the open letter from Telangana Rashtra Samithi's Working President and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding jobs for youths, the subject seemed to have caught the attention of the PM.
Modi has asked for the recruitment of 10 lakh people on a "mission" mode in the next one and half years.
The PMO tweeted: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that the recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in a mission mode in the next 1.5 years."
It so naturally became obvious that KTR's letter has become the trigger for the Prime Minister to "act swiftly" on the demand for job creation and filling the vacant posts. "What actions had been taken to create 2 crore jobs per year?" asked KTR.
It is precisely on this subject of jobs that the BJP in Telangana used to attack the TRS Government.
Telangana filling 91,000 new jobs
After tightening all the loose ends, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao pulled the proverbial rabbit from the magic hat on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly on March 9, 2022. KCR had announced that the Telangana Government would fill 91,142 vacant government jobs. Of them, 11, 103 contract jobs were to be regularised. Thus, the State would recruit for 80,039 posts.
The main objective of the open letter was to highlight unemployment. KTR, in an open letter to the Prime Minister, demanded that 16 lakh vacant government posts in various central government departments be filled. He also stated that the Union Government miserably failed in attracting global investments to the country which could create employment opportunities for the youth.
The TRS Government had brought several thousands of crores of investments ever since it assumed the reins of the State, said KTR. The total investments that flowed into the State were pegged at Rs. 2.34 lakh crore through innovative and friendly industrial policies. He stated that over 16 lakh private jobs were created in the State.
KTR stated that Telangana Government had filled over 1,32,000 Govt jobs in the State and the State would soon fill up another one lakh government jobs. "We run a government which believes in action and not in mere slogans and lip service," KTR said.
KTR stated that due to the "indecisiveness of the Union Government, the country today is witnessing the highest unemployment rate in the past 45 years. He stated that the Central Govt is negatively impacting the existing job opportunities instead of creating new ones. He stated that lakhs of jobs were being lost as the Union Government was selling companies.
KTR sought to know when would 16 lakh job vacancies under the Union Government be filled? What actions had been taken to create 2 crore jobs per year?
By privatization of Government properties, the reservation policy in jobs will be removed. What about SC, ST, and BC youth who are being denied their jobs?
