Prime Minister Modi felicitates mom, makes it a photo-op

HYDERABAD: There is no news if a son greets his mom on her birthday. If the son is a celebrity, his emotions become important and noteworthy.

But, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have made his mother's birthday more of a photo-op rather than an emotional moment of affection.

Modi on Saturday met his mother Heeraben Modi at her residence in Gandhinagar marking her birthday. She turned 99 and entered her centenary year.



A video that went viral exposed how the whole episode was made into a photo-op.

During his visit it was seen that a photographer ran inside the house first followed by the arrival of Modi. How generous of the Prime Minister was to visit his mother with an eye on making her birthday celebration as a photo-op.

Modi paid respects to his centenarian mother by washing her feet and seeking her blessings.

Modi also penned an emotional blog for his mother.

'Mother' is not just any other word in the dictionary. It encompasses a whole range of emotions – love, patience, trust, and a lot more. Across the world, irrespective of country or region, children have a special affection for their mothers. A mother not only gives birth to her children, but also shapes their mind, their personality, and their self-confidence. And while doing so, mothers selflessly sacrifice their own personal needs and aspirations.

"Today, I feel extremely happy and fortunate to share that my mother Smt. Heeraba is entering her hundredth year. This is going to be her birth centenary year. If my father had been alive, he too would have celebrated his 100th birthday last week. 2022 is a special year as my mother's centenary year is starting, and my father would have completed his", the Prime Minister wrote in his blog.
