SCR bags three energy efficiency unit awards from CII

HYDERABAD: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has awarded South Central Railway with Energy Efficient Unit Awards for three administrative units in the zone at the 23rd National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management - 2022. These awards were announced for the best energy management practises in 2022 and were presented at the Energy Efficiency summit in New Delhi.

South Central Railway has been consistently receiving the Energy Conservation Awards at both National level and State level continuously for several years. Several administrative units have been selected for Energy efficient unit awards from CII continuously for years together.

The Kacheguda Station Building received the Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award three times in a row and was named the National Energy Leader of the Year, which is the top honour in the field of energy efficiency.

Lingampalli Railway Station Building (Secunderabad Division) and Hyderabad Bhavan (DRM Office, Hyderabad) were recognised as Energy Efficient Units in the Buildings Sector.

Sharat Chandrayan, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, received the award for the construction of the Kacheguda Railway Station and Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineers and other officials were honoured for their work on the Hyderabad Bhavan and Lingampalli Railway Station buildings.

The zone plays a key role in putting various energy-saving measures into place, including energy-efficient LED lighting, precision air conditioners of the inverter type, HVAC management, and temperature monitoring. turning off air conditioners when they aren't in use, using occupancy sensors and energy-saving features, Utilizing solar energy to heat water and generate electricity, timing water coolers and rolling exam lights, and optimising lifts are just a few examples. Fan circuits at platforms are split, allowing 70% of the fans to be turned off when there are no trains. Utilizing Energy-Efficient Pumps use of electrical equipment with a star rating, Electronic fan regulators are available in place of traditional fan regulators.

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), South Central Railway, congratulated the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE), SCR, Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), Hyderabad and Secunderabad Divisions, and their teams on their achievement. He stated that receiving prestigious awards at the national level on a consistent basis for several years demonstrates the zone's sincerity and commitment, and serves as motivation to maintain consistent performance in the future.
