It's Ambedkar vibe all over with inauguration of tallest statue in Hyderabad, thanks to KCR
“Life should be great, rather than long.” This is one of the greatest quotes of Dr Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
“Life should be great, rather than long.” This is one of the greatest quotes of Dr Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Perhaps, he lived up to this and led an exemplary life.
HYDERABAD: The vibe is of Dr B R Ambedkar today. Not just in Hyderabad, where his 125-foot-tall statue is being inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrasehkar Rao on the banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake, but across the nation.
Never has there been such a vibrancy created around one of the tallest leaders of India Dr B R Ambedkar in the independent history of our nation. Surely, the credit must be ascribed to KCR. He conceived the idea of installing a 125-foot statue of the Father of the Constitution way back in 2016. Accordingly, a GO was issued on April 11, 2016.
KCR made it possible. Today, he proudly unveils the statue. It ain’t just the statue. Installing the 125-foot idol of the crusader of the causes of multiple sections of India on a 5-foot pedestal, which indeed has a sprawling auditorium and a library with Dr Ambedkar’s life and works, is indeed a glorious tribute to the greatest visionary. Dr Ambedkar who is also popular as Baba Saheb actually could foresee numerous situations that would unfold in Independent India and enunciated rules and postulated the solutions in an unparalleled manner.
The foundation stone for the Ambedkar Statue project was laid on April 14, 2016 on the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. In just flat seven years, KCR has transformed the idea into a reality. The estimated value of the project is Rs. 146 crore. The magnificent Secretariat and the iconic Telangana martyr’s memorial have also been designed around Dr Ambedkar statue. It may not be an exaggeration to say that KCR plans things with enormity in magnitude. A visit around the Hussain Sagar Lake makes one understand how he has transformed the entire landscape of the place.
The vibe of Ambedkar will now reverberate across India, for Hyderabad will now boast of having the tallest statue of the great man in a sprawling 11.80 acres of land in the heart of the city. The pedestal is built in two acres.
In fact, KCR has said that any task can be taken to a logical end with a concerted effort and sincerity in approach. “The life of the Architect of the Indian Constitution is a proof of the philosophy in encountering the obstacles with self–confidence.”
Ambedkar was a brave and noble person to face the discrimination against him in the name of caste and untouchability.
He had scaled the heights of success with his broad thinking by breaking the shackles of self-deprecation and vulnerability, said KCR.
The Chief Minister said that Ambedkar's writings, speeches and critiques on many aspects of democracy, abolition of caste, untouchability, religious conversions, women's rights, religion, economic reforms, and history made him a walking encyclopedia.
Eradicating inequality became the basis for the Constitution, said KCR who described Dr Ambedkar as ‘Telangana Bandhu’ for incorporating Article 3 in the Constitution which facilitated the formation of the Telangana state.
With a view to paying a befitting tribute to the leader, KCR christened the yet-to-be inaugurated Telangana Secretariat after Dr Ambedkar and his statue would be a guiding light for carrying on the spirit of the constitution in discharge of duties of all the functionaries in the seat of power of the State.
