HYDERABAD: The Telangana unit of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has set an ambitious target of mobilising at least 10 lakh people for the public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the party's national executive meeting in Hyderabad on July 3.

The public meeting will also be addressed by BJP bigwigs including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda.

The Telangana BJP on Sunday held a meeting to discuss the arrangements to be made for the public meeting. State BJP president Bandi Sanjay, national executive committee in-charge Arvind Menon and National BJP OBC Morcha president Dr K Laxman were among those who attended the meeting.

Bandi Sanjay said that people's wish for change in Telangana had inspired the BJP leadership to conduct the National Executive Committee meetings in Hyderabad.

He directed that the party cadre take full advantage of this and mobilise people in large numbers for the public meeting, which should be unprecedented in the history of Telangana.

Sanjay called upon the party workers to communicate the information regarding the public meeting and Modi's visit to every nook and cranny of the state and hand over invitations to each household. About 50 lakh invitations were being printed for the same, he added.

He also stated that the party had decided to involve every worker in the meetings, and sought donations from zonal, district and state-level leaders. The payments were only to be made digitally to the BJP state unit's bank account, he clarified.

The BJP began to eye Telangana ever since the party posted two bypoll victories and wresting a large number of seats in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections in 2020.
