AMARAVATI: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) welcomes the emergence of new political outfits in democracy, Andhra Pradesh Government Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said on Thursday. He made this comment with reference to the transformation of TRS into a national party under the name of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) by its leader K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
"The YSRCP welcomes the emergence of new political parties in democracy. As part of YSRCP, we have our own policies and are focused on developing the State. We will not analyse parties of the neighbouring states. For us, the progress of our state (Andhra Pradesh) is of paramount importance," he said. Referring to the recent war of words between ministers and leaders of both the Telugu states, Sajjala said that they were not dabbling with the issues of other states. "Why are they criticising us while ignoring the issues of their own state? We are not sure if they were resorting to this with an eye on future politics. But we are only committed to issues pertaining to our state," the YSRCP key leader remarked.
Though YSRCP came up with its response to the formation of BRS unlike the TDP which prefers to stay silent, the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh appears to be treading a cautious path on KCR's national party ambitions, at least for the moment. Sajjala's comments that YSRCP was committed only to Andhra Pradesh has also given subtle indications on where the YS Jaganmohan Reddy's party would want to stand.
