HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao's support for the 'One Nation One Election' clearly demonstrates his unwavering support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Revanth Reddy on Sunday.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy also released a letter to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, which revealed that the Bharat Rashtra Samiti(BRS) was in favour of simultaneous elections to the Parliament. The letter was reportedly written in response to a letter released by the then-Chairman of the Law Commission of India, Justice B.S. Chauhan in the year 2018.

According to Revanth Reddy, KCR stated in the letter that the BRS was in favour of holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly elections. Reddy argued that KCR's silence despite news of the controversy indicates BRS-BJP's friendship, stating he strongly supports all controversial BJP bills and the One Nation One Election bill.

Revanth Reddy also predicted that a hung Assembly and a fragmented mandate would create a constitutional crisis, with potential consequences for the country's future governance if 'One Nation One Election' was implemented in the country.

Recent surveys indicated that the Congress party gained power in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Rajasthan, causing concern for Prime Minister Modi. Voter surveys also indicated that the Congress was at 38 percent and the BRS at 31 percent, leading the KCR to support Modi, said Revanth Reddy.

The simultaneous elections were the first step in shifting India's administration from Prime Minister type of governance to a Presidential form of governance in which only Modi could make all decisions. Modi's simultaneous elections could be unconstitutional and dangerous for democracy, potentially severing state rights and questioning the existence of Southern states, said Revanth Reddy.

TPCC Chief also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for involving former President Ramnath Kovind in a high-level committee examining 'One Nation, One Election' policy, he had now dragged even a former President into politics.
