HYDERABAD: President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K Chandrashekar Rao declared on Monday that the BRS would oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill since the BJP-led Centre intended to divide the people of the country once again using the UCC Bill.
He said that the BJP government, which ignored development and promoted enmity amongst people, had been conspiring to divide the country yet again under the garb of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the BRS had been opposing the Union Government’s decisions which were detrimental to the unity of the people of the country. He said that India had been endowed with a diverse range of cultures, customs, castes, and faiths, and that it served as a model for the rest of the world in pushing for unity in diversity.
The Chief Minister said that the BRS would aggressively oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in order to preserve India's diversity. KCR said that tribals, with their unique culture, different castes, and religious people, including Hindus, in the country left in confusion and worried about the UCC bill.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board Executive, led by Board President Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, met Chief Minister KCR at Pragati Bhavan on Monday. The Board urged that the Chief Minister oppose the UCC law, which was a threat to the country's people and their inherited traditions and values.
AIMIM party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MLA Akbaruddin, ministers Mahmood Ali and KT Rama Rao, board executive members, and others participated in this meeting.
Chief Minister KCR said, ''It is clear that the imposition of UCC is a malicious attempt by the Union government. The BJP government has been ignoring the development of the country and people’s welfare for the last nine years. The BJP plotted to instigate people by promoting divisive politics by raking up clashes between the communities to derive political benefits through the UCC Bbill. It is the main reason, we are opposing the UCC bill which is being introduced by the BJP led government soon."
He made it clear that the BRS would oppose the UCC Bill in the upcoming Parliament session. He also said that they would fight on the UCC Bill by uniting all like-minded political parties. He also asked the parliamentary party leaders K. Keshava Rao and Nama Nageshwar Rao prepare an action plan to fight against the centre in both the houses of Parliament.
