Will contest in by-election from Secunderabad cantonment, says Lasya Nandita's sister Nivedita

HYDERABAD: Nivedita, the sister of the late Secunderabad cantonment MLA Lasya Nandita, has announced her intention to contest in the upcoming Cantonment Assembly constituency by-election.

She made this declaration during a media conference held after a meeting with activists and supporters on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nivedita said that she had taken the decision upon discussing the matter with her followers and expressed hope that the people of the constituency would support her candidacy as they did for her father Sayanna and sister Lasya Nandita.

The sudden vacancy in the Cantonment Assembly constituency arose following the tragic passing of MLA Lasya Nandita in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad on February 23. Consequently, the Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule for the by-election, which would be held on May 13.

She said she would soon meet Bharat Rahstra Samithi (BRS) president KCR to submit her request for considering to field her in the upcoming bypoll.
