Artificial Intelligence to identify potholes in GHMC area
The winner would receive up to Rs.20 lakh per annum for prospective pilot project implementation in Telangana.
HYDERABAD: With the goal of identifying creative and practical solutions, Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM) has launched the 'Mobility AI Grand Challenge' to help the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) identify and classify potholes.
This competition is open to all innovators around the country. Shortlisted innovators will have four weeks to produce a proof of concept based on their approach note. The contributions will be judged based on their approach, technique, and outcome. The winner would receive up to Rs.20 lakh per annum for prospective pilot project implementation in Telangana.
With the help of live and archived video feeds, the GHMC intends to locate and categorise potholes of varying degrees of severity along predetermined routes throughout Hyderabad. The artificial intelligence-based technologies would provide GHMC authorities with new information to carry out focused repairs in Hyderabad.
According to Telangana's Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, governments and entrepreneurs should work together more to address societal issues through open innovation. I have utmost faith in the ability of T-initiative AIM's to assist GHMC in utilising cutting-edge AI-based solutions to improve road safety.
Anurag Pratap, VP & CSR Leader at Capgemini India, said, "With Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM), we are leveraging an open innovation ecosystem to select, advocate, and support tech-enabled transformative solutions that are designed to make a difference to people and life. Everyone can relate to the pothole severity across the roads in India. I am sure that the identification of innovative and viable solutions through the Mobility AI Grand Challenge will contribute immensely to road safety. "
TiHAN, India's first autonomous navigation facility at IIT Hyderabad, and INAI-IHub Data, the applied AI research centre at IIIT-H, are partners in this challenge. While TiHAN will provide intellectual support, INAI-IHub Data will provide Bodhyaan 1.0, the data capture platform.
The deadline to submit approach notes for the challenge is September 16, 2022. The winner will be announced in the month of November. Interested candidates can apply at: https://taim-gc.in/mobility.
