Kausar Mohiuddin (AIMIM)
Mohiuddin was born on November 6, 1963 in Hyderabad. His parents are Gulam Moinuddin and Anwar Begum. He studied at the Anwarul Uloom College, Mallepally. He began his political career with the AIMIM. He is married to Najma Sultana and has four children.
In the 2014 Assembly elections, party chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced Mohiuddin’s candidature as a replacement for Afsar Khan aka Mohd Muqteda Khan. He became an MLA for the first time by defeating his nearest rival Baddam Bal Reddy of the BJP by 38,000 votes. In the 2018 Assembly elections, he became an MLA for the second time. He defeated BJP candidate T Amar Singh. In the 2023 Assembly elections, he is contesting as an MLA for the third time from Karwan Assembly constituency.
Aindala Krishnaiah (BRS)
Krishnaiah aka Mithra Krishna began his political career with the Congress in 2009. He was elected as a corporator from Jiyaguda division in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections in 2009. In 2016, he shifted his loyalties to the TRS (now BRS) from the Congress. In the same year, he contested as a corporator from the Jiyaguda division in the GHMC elections. He defeated BJP candidate Munindar.
In the 2020 GHMC elections, he contested as a corporator for the third time from Jiyaguda division. He was defeated by BJP candidate Darshan Bohini. In the 2023 Assembly elections, he is contesting as an MLA for the first time from Karwan Assembly constituency on behalf of the BRS. He is going to take on AIMIM candidate Kausar Mohiuddin, Congress candidate Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri and BJP candidate Amar Singh.
Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri (Congress)
Mohammed Al Hajri began his political career with the TDP. In the 2009 Assembly elections, he contested as an MLA for the first time from the Karwan constituency. He was defeated by AIMIM MD Muqtada Khan. In the 2014 Assembly elections, he stayed from contesting the 2014 Assembly elections. He shifted his loyalties to the Congress.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, he contested as an MLA for the second time and was defeated by AIMIM candidate Kausar Mohiuddin. In the 2023 Assembly elections, he is contesting as an MLA for the third time on behalf of the Congress.
T Amar Singh (BJP)
Amar Singh began his political career with the BJP. In the 2018 Assembly elections, he contested as an MLA for the first time on behalf of the BJP in Karwan Assembly constituency. He was defeated by AIMIM candidate Kausar Mohiuddin. In the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP leadership is fielding Amar Singh as its candidate for the second time from Karwan.

- The AIMIM won five times, the BJP won thrice and the Congress won twice in this constituency.
- Karwan has a very long history dating back to the Nizam rule, it was well known as diamond pearls market. As of today, there are old buildings and other old temples and masjids constructed during the Nizam period.
- Seven GHMC wards- Jiyaguda, Karwan, Langer House, Golconda, Towlichowki, Nanalnagar and Gudimalkapur are part of this constituency.

2014 Assembly election Analysis
- The TRS did not field any strong candidates in AIMIM constituencies as they consider the AIMIM to be a friendly party.
- Soon after, the TRS formed the Government, it promised 12 per cent reservations for Muslims. But it had failed to fulfill the promise.
- Though the TRS had fielded T Jeevan Singh as its candidate, his enrollment was insignificant in the constituency.
2018 Assembly election Analysis:
- In the 2018 Assembly elections, the AIMIM wave was strong and dominated this constituency.
- Sitting MLA Kausar Mohiuddin had the strongest hold as he maintained a huge and loyal cadre and pulled the majority of the Muslim votes.
- There was a split of in the Muslim votes between the Congress and the AIMIM as the Congress fielded its candidate from the Muslim community.
- The BJP had a decent track record in this Assembly constituency, due to loyal Hindu voters.
- The BJP’s vote share was reduced because the TRS wanted to split the Hindu votes between the TRS and the BJP.

- The AIMIM is fielding Kausar Mohiuddin as its MLA candidate for the third consecutive time.
- The Congress and the BJP have also pinned their hopes on the victory in this constituency and are fielding Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri and T Amar Singh for the second time after their defeat in the 2018 Assembly elections.
- The BRS has fielded former Jiyaguda corporator Aindala Krishnaiah aka Mitra Krishna as its MLA candidate.
