HYDERABAD: Telangana is one of the fastest growing States in the country and in the year 2022 the Municipal Administration and Urban Development works in the State were carried out on a fast-track.
With Minister for MA&UD K T Rama Rao aiming at utilising the State’s resources to bring in international-standard development, parks and lakes are being restored, roads and drains are being developed and the State is becoming people-friendly.
Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP)
The State Government approved 41 road development projects for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits of which 11 were inaugurated in 2022. The total number of completed projects went up to 34 this year. The City has seen a major reduction in traffic congestion.
Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP)
A total of 34 projects in the GHMC limits and 21 projects outside GHMC were sanctioned in 2022 under SNDP. Three projects inside GHMC and one project outside have been completed this year.
Rennovation of parks
The State Government, understanding that parks play an important role in beautifying an area and also provide a space for people to take a break from their routine lives, is developing parks across the State.
Parks which were inaugurated in 2022:
Pranavayuvu Urban Forest Park was inaugurated in January 2022 in Quthbullapur.
A Sports Theme Park was also inaugurated in Quthbullapur in January 2022.
STP park was inaugurated in Peerzadiguda in February 2022.
A theme park was inaugurated in Uppal Junction in March 2022.
Qutub Shahi Heritage parks’ step-well restoration was carried out in September 2022.
Himayat Sagar Lake - Kothawal eco park was inaugurated in October 2022.
Gandipet Lake Landscape was also inaugurated in October 2022.
A Samosa park and Venkatapuram colony park were inaugurated in Padmarao Nagar.
Restoration of lakes
In 2022, the State Government approved the restoration of 61 lakes at a cost of Rs 95.5 crores. Many lakes around the State are being cleaned using Floating Trash Collectors (FTCs) and other methods. Plans to divert sewage water into water treatment plants and not into lakes were also approved. Minister KTR at an event in 2022 said, “There were days when lakes in Telangana were so clean that people used to drink them. However, over time the condition of the lakes deteriorated. The Telangana Government is working towards restoring the lakes and ponds.”
Other development works
In 2022, Telangana climbed a step in the ladder towards becoming one of the best States of the country. Government Canteens were opened across the State. Housing projects saw a fast-paced growth. The Haritha Haram programme was also implemented across the State by many people, starting from leaders to local people.
An All Faith and Animal crematoriums were also inaugurated near LB Nagar. Two new Link Roads were inaugurated in the GHMC limits.
