Addanki Dayakar, Balmoor Venkat likely to be nominated Congress MLCs under MLA's quota

Social equations seem to be the key in finalising the names of these leaders. Both Dayakar and Venkat were denied Assembly tickets but were promised to be nominated as MLCs.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Congress seems have to zeroed in on the names of Dalit leader Addanki Dayakar and NSUI State president Balmoor Venkat for nominating them as MLCs under the MLA Quota.

Similarly, the names of Prof Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan are likely to be announced as MLCs under the Governor's quota.

The nominations would be announced on Tuesday evening. The last date for filing of nominations is January 18, 2024.

Social equations seem to be the key in finalising the names of these leaders. Both Dayakar and Venkat were denied Assembly tickets but were promised to be nominated as MLCs. They played a key role in the Telangana Assembly elections and seems to have won the confiedence of the party.

Before heading to Davos, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy went to New Delhi to seek approval of the party high command for the candidates of MLC seats.

While Prof. Kodanadaram's Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) supported the Congress in the recently held elections, Amer Ali Khan's father Zahed Ali Khan was a journalist of an Urdu daily and a Congress leader who played a key role in the Telangana movement.
