MIM supports BRS by fielding only nine candidates in Telangana, but 30-40 in other States: Priyanka Gandhi
Priyanka Gandhi said that despite ruling for the last 10 years, the BRS Government was neither aware of the needs and problems of the people of Telangana
BHONGIR: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that the AIMIM openly supports the BRS by contesting only nine seats in Telangana Assembly elections despite fielding 30-40 candidates in other states.
Addressing a road show in Bhongir constituency on Monday, Priya Gandhi said that despite ruling for the last 10 years, the BRS Government was neither aware of the needs and problems of the people of Telangana, nor did they have time for the people.
"You all suffered from problems caused by demonetisation, COVID-19, and GST, but the BRS Government did nothing to help you. Many small business owners suffered during these difficult times, but the Government failed to address your concerns. It's election season, it's high time to start questioning what the Government has done for you. It's time to vote wisely and choose a people-friendly government,” the AICC general secretary said.
Priyanka Gandhi said that despite the fact that common people in Telangana faced numerous hardships, big politicians in Telangana enjoyed and relaxed in their lavish bungalows and farm houses while lending a deaf ear to the people’s struggles and problems. Local MLAs also exactly learned the same thing from these politicians and were least bothered about your problems, she added.
Referring to the plight of the farmers in Telangana, Priya Gandhi said that farmers in Telangana were struggling due to a lack of loan waivers and electricity. Lakhs of youngsters in Telangana were unemployed because the Telangana Government failed to recruit people without paper leaks. If elected, the Congress would create over 2 lakh jobs in Telangana on lines of Rajasthan and Chattisgarh, she added.
"Today, there is very high inflation throughout the country, and women bear the brunt of it. Your life is full of difficulties. There are numerous atrocities committed against women in Telangana, and the BRS Government has done nothing to ensure your safety. The Congress recognises the burden of inflation on your shoulders and that's why we have announced six guarantees for Telangana State if the Congress is voted to power, " the AICC general secretary said.
Commenting on the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project in Telangana, she said that the project was plagued by significant corruption, with no project, including the Kaleshwaram project, being completed successfully. The poverty in Telangana increased, while BRS leaders in the State became wealthier, she said.
“If the Congress is elected to power, Dalits and Adivasis will receive Rs. 12 lakhs under the Ambedkar Abhaya Hastam scheme, and BCs will receive 22 percent reservation in local bodies. She also promised Rs. 5 lakh for house construction, Rs. 10 lakh for medical insurance, and Rs. 4,000 for social welfare pension under six guarantees,” Priya Gandhi said.
The AICC general secretary also promised to give eligible women 10 grams of gold as well as Rs. 1 lakh cash assistance at the time of marriage. The other promises included Rs. 6 lakh financial assistance for Adivasi house construction and financial assistance for Dalit students studying abroad. “People should decide if they still want the BRS Government or Prajala Palana through the Congress Government,” she added.
