HYDERABAD: The petition over the Telangana Governor’s pending assent to fiscal bills was disposed in the Telangana High Court on Monday following an amicable resolution of the matter.
Both the sides – the Telangana Government and the Governor’s office at Raj Bhavan – arrived at an amicable solution after deliberations held at the Chamber of Advocate General. As agreed between the two sides, the Governor will be invited to deliver her address at the start of the Budget Session of the State Legislative Assembly. On the other hand, the Raj Bhavan will clear the pending bills, as required for the smooth functioning of the State administration.
The Telangana Government’s petition was subsequently disposed after Government’s counsel Dushyant Dave reportedly informed the High Court about the amicable resolution of the issue.
Asserting that the upcoming Budget Session of the State Assembly would begin with the Governor’s address, Dave informed the High Court that all the Constitutional obligations would be duly met for this purpose.
Earlier in the day, a petition was moved with the Telangana High Court with the plea that it be taken up as a lunch motion. After enquiring from the government’s counsel if they were ready to put forward their arguments, the High Court admitted the petition and consented for taking it up for hearing at 1 pm.
The State Government had decided to approach the High Court over the long-pending assent of the Governor for various fiscal and other crucial bills pertaining to the State’s administration.
