HYDERABAD: BRS leader and former MLA Balka Suman accused the Congress government of targeting actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s N Convention in a controversial demolition linked to alleged financial demands.

Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Suman claimed that the venue was demolished under the pretext of being located in an FTL (Full Tank Level) zone because Nagarjuna refused to pay Rs 400 crore, a rumour circulating in industry circles.

Suman questioned why no action was taken against Anand Convention, situated in a similar zone at Himayat Sagar, while the Congress, led by Revanth Reddy, demolished N Convention. He alleged that bribes were involved in sparing Anand Convention from a similar fate.

The former MLA criticised Congress for demolishing houses near Sunnam Cheruvu in Madhapur and other places, while ignoring encroachments like the farmhouse and golf course built on 18 acres in Gandipet by Congress MLA Vivek. Suman asked whether the government had the courage to act against such structures and accused the Congress of selectively targeting the poor while protecting the interests of the wealthy.

He asserted that the recent demolitions were a diversion tactic aimed at distracting the public from the government’s unfulfilled promises.
