Bandi Sanjay, Ponnam Prabhakar spar over Karimnagar development; Bandi to quit politics if defeated
On Tuesday, the Karimnagar MP challenged Ponnam Prabhakar and said that if he lost the upcoming Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections, he would quit politics and dared Ponnam to declare the same.
HYDERABAD: BJP MP Bandi Sanjay and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar have engaged themselves in a war of words over development works in Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
On Tuesday, the Karimnagar MP challenged Ponnam Prabhakar and said that if he lost the upcoming Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections, he would quit politics and dared Ponnam to declare the same.
The war of words began after Ponnam on Monday dared Bandi Sanjay to elucidate his work for Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency in the last five years instead of seeking votes in the name of Lord Ram. Bandi Sanjay is currently touring the constituency as part of the BJP’s Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra.

Ponnam said that Bandi was unnecessarily creating controversy to garner attention that his yatra was being blocked by Congress workers when nothing of that sort took place.
Higlighting that the Congress would launch the subsidised LPG cylinder scheme on Tuesday, Ponnam asked Sanjay whether the Centre would reimburse Rs 500 for the poor. Ponnam also said that the mangalsutra was a sacred thread and that it was Bandi Sanjay who had sold his wife’s mangalsutra and gold to contest in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Responding to Ponnam's tirade on Tuesday, Bandi Sanjay said that he did not make any personal remarks against anyone. Sanjay alleged that Ponnam was provoking Congress workers to block his yatra. He then promised to quit politics if he lost in the upcoming elections.
