BRS decries smaller chamber for KCR, want Speaker to allot bigger one; highlight protocol breaches
MLAs of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) called on Speaket Gaddam Prasad Kumar and expressed their resentment over the decision to change the chambers given to former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao.
HYDERABAD: The Congress Government changed the chambers of the leader of the opposition to a smaller one from the one allotted in the previous session.
Crying foul over the decision, MLAs of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) called on Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and expressed their resentment over the decision to change the chambers given to former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao.
Addressing media here on Thursday, former Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy said that when in government, the BRS had allotted a bigger chambers to the Leader of the Opposition then out of sheer respect for the Speaker. “They promised us that a bigger chamber would be allotted to the Leader of the Opposition, but they gave a smaller one which is an insult. We have allotted a bigger chambers even when the Congress had just five MLAs.”

The BRS MLAs urged the Speaker to take reconsider the decision and allot a bigger chamber to KCR. He also pointed out that instances of protocol breach in the case of BRS MLAs. The officials were forgetting the fact that Chintha Prabahakar was an MLA in Sangareddy. The officials were according protocol to the wife of the defeated contestant. Even the local RDO there was also acting like this.
He said that the DGP should take a serious note of the situation and understand the fact that political parties would come and go, Chief Ministers would change but protocol rules for those elected to offices should not be breached.
