CBI issues fresh summons to BRS MLC Kavitha in Delhi Liquor Scam
BRS MLA Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been asked by CBI to appear for questioning on February 26 in Delhi Liquor Scam case
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been issued fresh summons by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to appear before the investigating agency for questioning on February 26 in the Delhi Liquor Scam case.
Kavitha had challenged the questioning by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in the Supreme Court. The apex court on February 5 adjourned the case to February 16. The Supreme Court asked the ED not to act until the court decided on the matter. The court asked ED not to call her for questioning until the matter was disposed. This order was given in November 2023.
Kavitha was questioned by the CBI in the case on December 11, 2022 as a witness in the case.

On March 15, 2023, Kavitha challenged her questioning by the ED. The MLC had questioned the ED’s authority to quiz a woman at the agency's office. She contended that the summons were in contravention of the law and the agency could not do so, she asserted.
Delhi liquor scam: BRS MLC Kavitha moves SC against ED questioning
It is alleged by the ED that Kavitha was associated with the cartel that was accused in the Delhi Liquor Scam case. However, the CBI's summons have come afresh after being questioned as a witness in December 2022.
