BRS members have stalled the Rajya Sabha proceedings pressing the demand for the immediate introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill in the House
NEW DELHI: As part of the Parliament session on Tuesday, the BRS members have stalled the Rajya Sabha proceedings pressing the demand for the immediate introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill in the House, besides seeking a JPC on the Adani issue.
The BRS members issued an adjournment notice in the House seeking a comprehensive discussion on both issues.
However, the notices for the adjournment motion were rejected. The BRS MPs staged a protest in the House by sporting black scarves.
BRS Parliamentary Party leader K. Keshav Rao, along with MPs Vaddiraju Ravi Chandra, Joginapally Santosh Kumar, Deevakonda Damodar Rao, Bandi Parthasarathy Reddy, K.R. Suresh Reddy, Badugula Lingaiah stalled the House against the “anti-people's policies” being adopted by the BJP-led Union Government and raised slogans.
Meanwhile, BRS party MPs in Lok Sabha, Nama Nageswara Rao, Malothu Kavitha, Borlakunta Venkatesh Netakani, Pasunuri Dayakar, Manne Srinivas Reddy, B.B. Patil, P. Ramulu and others insisted on a discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. However, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned with the disruption of Houses.
On the other hand, Congress and other opposition parties also protested in the Lok Sabha demanding the revocation of Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from Lok Sabha resulting in the disruption of parliament proceedings.
MLC Kavitha from BRS party, earlier this month, sat on a day-long protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Bharat Jagruthi led by MLC Kavitha organised a round table conference in New Delhi that witnessed participation of over 15 political parties, civil society organisations and student community.
Bharat Jagruthi would also be launching a ‘Missed Call Campaign’ soon to further the demand for the Bill. Along with the campaign, there will also be round table discussions in colleges and universities across India to discuss the need for tabling and passing of Women’s Reservation Bill.
