HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekar Rao has nominated former IPS officer R S Praveen Kumar from Nagarkurnool (SC) and P Venkatram Reddy from Medak Lok Sabha seats to contest on behalf of the party.

The BRS supremo held confabulations with party leaders and finalised the candidatures of Praveen Kumar and Venktram reddy for the two seats.

R S Praveen Kumar, who had entered into an electoral alliance with the BRS on behalf of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had developed differences with his party chief Mayawathi, quit the BSP and joined the BRS in the presence of KCR recently.

KCR has been seriously contemplating fielding Praveen Kumar, who is a former IPS officer, from Nagarkurnool seat. Praveen Kumar would now take on Congress nominee Dr Mallu Ravi in the constituency.

Though there was speculation initially that KCR himself would contest from Medak Lok Sabha seat, he decided against it. Another rumour that did the rounds in the BRS corridors was that former Finance Minister T Harish Rao would be fielded from Medak. BRS leader Vanteru Prathap Reddy, who had joined the bRS in 2018 after he had lost to KCR from Gajwel Assembly seat as a Congress contestant, aspired for the BRS ticket. However, KCR tried to convince him not to seek the ticket. Against this background, speculation is rife that Pratap Reddy might cross over to the Congress soon. However, there is no clarity on his political moves as of now.
