BRS to organise ‘Chalo Medigadda’ on March 1 to counter propaganda of Congress on Kaleshwaram
KT Rama Rao announced that the party would organise ‘Chalo Medigadda’ on March 1, 2024, in which 150 BRS leaders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and former ministers would participate.
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) announced that the party would organise ‘Chalo Medigadda’ on March 1, 2024, in which 150 BRS leaders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and former ministers would participate.
The BRS team would start from Telangana Bhavan to visit Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla Barrages and all reservoirs under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
Addressing media here at the Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, KTR said that he would take Congress leaders along with the BRS team to visit various components of the KLIP. He said that the BRS would not only put an end to the misinformation campaign unleashed by the Congress Government but also explain to the people of Telangana the facts behind the sagging of the pillars of Medigadda.
“Taking the sagging of piers at Medigadda as an excuse the Congress Government wants to demolish the entire Barrage. There were glitches in the Kaddem, Gundlavagu, Musi, Singur, Pulichintala, and Prakasam Barrage built by the Congress Government. There are engineering solutions available to rectify problems in each of these projects,” KTR pointed out.
KTR said the irrigation department could build a coffer dam to restrict water flooding the Barrage and start repair works. “We have welcomed the inquiry ordered by the Government and said that let the investigation continue while the repairs were undertaken by the contractor,” he said.
Urging the Government to keep the interests of the farmers as paramount, he said that political differences between parties should not disrupt the agricultural seasons. He pointed out that already the Government declared that it would not be possible to release irrigation and drinking water during the summer.
He demanded the Government concentrate more on the repairs of the projects rather than blaming the former Government for political gains. “The Congress Government prefers washing away the barrages in the ensuing flooding season. It is deplorable that even Ministers are forecasting the washing away of the Barrages including Annaram and Sundilla,” KTR said.
