BRS will repeat or even outdo 2018 results: KTR confident of returning to power
Sharing his agenda for Hyderabad if voted to power, KTR said, "My top priority will be flood management and completion of double decker skyways from JBS to Shamirpet and from Paradise to Kandlakoya."
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed confidence that K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) will form the Government again and will win the same number of seats in 2018 (88), if not one or two more than that.
Speaking to news editors in the 'Telangana Elections Way Forward for Next Decade' event at ITC Kakatiya here on Friday, KTR said, "The BRS Government, despite being in power for 10 years, had a chance to work only for 6.5 years. The rest of the time went away due to the Covid pandemic, Assembly, Parliament and the GHMC elections. In this time frame, we were able to achieve so many things.
"When we came to power, we first wanted to solve the electricity crisis which we have succeeded by becoming the first State to provide 24x7 electricity for farmers. We then invested in water though the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project and then on Mission Kakatiya.
"We have now crossed Bengaluru by providing the highest jobs in the IT sector for two years in a row. We are the top State in green revolution. We are only 2.5 per cent of India's population but our contribution to India's GDP is 5 per cent. We are the State which has won 30 per cent of Swachh Sarvekshan awards," he said and shared that the Telangana development model was holistic, integrated, inclusive and balanced.
Explaining that there was a fine balance of development and welfare in Telangana, KTR said, "In the last 25 years, only three Chief Ministers stand out from this region: Chandrababu Naidu was pro-development who worked on the IT industry. YS Rajashekar Reddy (YSR) was pro-agriculture and pro-welfare. KCR is a blend of Chandrababu Naidu and YSR.
"Our (Telangana's) GSDP is the highest. In 2014, every district in the State except Hyderabad was backward. Now, even after excluding Hyderabad, every district's per capita is better than the country's per capita," he said.
Ridiculing the Congress campaign of 'Marpu Kavali Congress Ravali' (Need change, Congress should come), KTR said, "They are asking 'marpu' for what? For changing Chief Ministers every six months? For reducing power supply from 24 hours to 3 hours? For throwing Rythu Bandhu out? Their manifesto is like old wine in a new bottle. We have created more jobs than any Congress or the BJP Governments in the country in the last 10 years."
Sharing his agenda for Hyderabad if voted to power, KTR said, "My top priority will be flood management and solving drainage issues in the city and the completion of double decker skyways from Jubilee Bus Stand to Shamirpet and from Paradise to Kandlakoya."
