Central team visits Lakshmi Barrage, to submit report to Union Jal Shakti Ministry
The central team along with KLIP engineer-in-chief Venlateswarlu and representatives of the contractor L&T inspected the damages
KARIMNAGAR: A six-member Central Team led by National Dam Safety Authority Chairman and Central Water Commission (CWC) member Anil Jain visited the Lakshmi Barrage at Medigadda of Mahdevpur mandal in Karimnagar district on Tuesday.
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project Authorities noticed the sagging of pillars of Block 7 of the Lakhsmi Barrage on October 21. The central team along with KLIP engineer-in-chief Venlateswarlu and representatives of the contractor L&T inspected the damages.
The team members ascertained the extent of the damage to the pillars and to the structure of the barrage due to the sagging of the pillars. After the team estimated the extent of the damage they would submit a report to the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Following the sagging of the pillars, the project authorities have released 22,500 cusecs of water down the stream by lifting 57 gates. The water level at the barrage hit dead storage level.
