HYDERABAD: The Centre is nudging the country towards a state of anarchy with its anti-democratic policies and in complete violation of the federal spirit, Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Guttha Sukhender Reddy has said.
Addressing the media at his camp office in Nalgonda on Thursday, he alleged that the Central government had plotted to ensure that Telangana did not receive borrowings under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act. Even the grants that the state is eligible are being blocked, he added.
Sukhender Reddy was also critical of what he called the Centre's discrimination against Telangana in the execution of the employment assurance scheme. "Authorities have ascertained that the employment assurance scheme was being implemented very well in the state. Still, the Centre is troubling the state by creating hurdles. Looks like, the Union government is plotting to bring this scheme in Telangana to a complete halt," he commented.
Referring to the Narendra Modi government's recent slew of taxation measures burdening the common man, the Legislative Council Chairman ridiculed the Union government for not even sparing crematoriums from the bout of GST.
