The State of Telangana turned into a hot oven on Saturday with the day temperatures reaching 46.7-45.2 degrees Celsius in almost all districts of the State.

HYDERABAD: The State of Telangana turned into a hot oven on Saturday with the day temperatures reaching 46.7-45.2 degrees Celsius in almost all districts of the State.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Manthani in Peddapalli recorded the highest temperature of 46.7 degrees, followed by Nerelalla, Munagala, and Pammi.

Kamareddy Gudem Hajipur recorded 46.6 degrees, Veenavanka 46.5 degrees, Kesamudram and Utkoor 46.4 degrees, Chelpur and Gorrekunta recorded 46.3 degrees, Zaffergarh and Kethepally 46.1 degrees and Kalwakurthy, Waddepally, Khajipet, Bhadrachalam registered 46 degrees.

However, people of Telugu States might get some relief from the prevailing heat wave conditions from Monday with the cloudy weather bringing sporadic and scattered rainfall in parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Begumpet was the hottest in Hyderabad with 43.6 degrees Celcius on Saturday. Hyderabad city also recorded a morning high of 43 degrees on Saturday. Hakimpet, Dundigal, Patancheru, Rajendranagar, and Hayat Nagar were the other places in Hyderabad that saw above-the-normal temperatures of 3.1 to 5 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Temperatures might hover around 44 degrees in parts of Telangana with a chance of showers for three days. According to the IMD’s local weather report the maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 43.6 degrees Celsius which was four degrees more than average on that particular day.

Heatwave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in Nalgonda, Mancherial, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Karimnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Jagitial, Peddapalli, Suryapet, Warangal, Nagarkurnool, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Bhadadri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Jayashakar Bhupalpally, Khammam and Nirmal districts of Telangana.

IMD forecast indicated that the temperature on Sunday would be around 43 degrees, 44 degrees on Monday, 42 degrees on Tuesday, 43 degrees on Wednesday, 42 degrees on Thursday and 39 degrees on Friday.

Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, too heatwave conditions along with gusty winds would continue during the next week with sporadic and scattered rains in a few parts of the State. Light to moderate rains in some parts were also predicted.

Temperatures (degrees Celsius) recorded on Saturday in major cities in AP: Amaravati (Vijayawada) 41.6, Kurnool 39, Nellore 38.6, Tirupati 39, Vizag 35, Machilipatnam 35, and Anantapur 39.4.

Heatwave, hot, humid, and discomfort weather conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh from May 4 to May 7.

On Friday the maximum day temperature recorded was 46.3 degrees in Nandyal. Heatwave conditions were also recorded over Nandyal, Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa, Arogyavaram, and Nellore.
