HYDERABAD: The Congress party is dead, said Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday, while speaking about India's latest national party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.

"The Congress Party is falling apart, there is no way that it can stand up again and fight again. Rahul Gandhi lost in Amethi, his place, in the previous election. How can one expect that the party still holds a chance? It is shameful that the Congress stands as a major opposition against the BJP. They do not stand a chance. Congress Leaders, not just in Telangana, but everywhere are resigning from the party. A party that is internally so broken cannot come into power,"

KTR also said that the TRS, now BRS, was 12-13 percent ahead of the Congress, and the BJP and other parties in the Munugode elections. The Minister, however, claimed that Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy was ready to spend any amount and buy the votes of people.

KTR said: "A gentleman I met told me that Amit Shah had told him that Rajgopal Reddy was ready to spend Rs 500 crore to win the bypoll. At this rate, he would give Rs 25,000 or more per vote."

The minister said that Rajgopal Reddy recently got a mining contract worth Rs.22,000 Cr and his margin could be around Rs.5,000 cr. Thus, the readiness to shell out whopping spends on bypoll could not be difficult for him.

KTR said that by the time Rahul Gandhi would reach Telangana, two of its MPs from the State would quit the party and might cross over to the BJP. The Congress had no future. It could not cross 50 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and might not retain even that nighardly number in the future.

"Congress is a distater. It cannot make any difference. They are unable to perform. The party is disintegrated. Wherever the Congress faces the BJP in a straight contest, the outcome is a given. It loses."

KTR also took potshots at the BJP for depicting Gandhiji in a poor light by placing his idol under the feet of Goddess Durga. He said the BJP is a "behrupiya" party and it's cunning ways were detrimental to the people. He pooh poohed Prime Minister Modi for failing to fulfil any promise. While he failed to give houses to all, he's making one at a cost of Rs.425 crore in Delhi for himself. KTR called BJP a jhumla party.
