MIRYALAGUDA: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has criticised the Congress for not coming up with schemes to uplift the Dalits in the State despite being in power for so many years.

Speaking at the Praja Ashirwada meeting at Miryalaguda on Tuesday, KCR appealed to the people to choose a leader who would strive hard for the upliftment of the society.

"Dalits have been suppressed for a long time. Why haven't they been given a chance to be uplifted? If Congress would have come up with schemes for the development of Dalits over the past 80 years, then they would have definitely had a bright future," said KCR.

The Chief Minister said that in order to help the Dalits, BRS came up with the Dalit Bandhu Scheme. He explained the innovative schemes that were being taking up in the State for the welfare of all sections of the society.

"Telangana is a young State which is just 10-years-old but has witnessed a huge development and is far ahead of many States in India," said KCR.

He added that Telangana was a secular State and that "There is no caste or religion bias and Hindus and Muslims are living peacefully over the last 10 years."

He lashed out at the Congress party leaders and questioned, "What has the Congress party done during their 80 years of rule? People know how they had ruled the nation."

Taking a dig at Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, KCR questioned, "Is it a waste of money to help the farmers through Rythu Bandu?"

KCR said that there was no guarantee for human life, so it was important to help the needy in the State through pensions. He added the amounts for social pensions would be increased once the BRS came into power.

Asking people to exercise their vote with caution, KCR asserted, "People should think twice before exercising their right to vote and should know the history of leaders who are in the election fray." Dindi project will revive fortune of Devarakonda: KCR

KCR came down heavily on the Congress for halting the completion of the Dindi Lift Irrigation scheme by approaching courts.

While addressing the ‘Praja Ashirvad’ sabha at Devarakonda in Nalgonda district, KCR said that after pressurising the Centrem it had referred the Dindi Lift Irrigation scheme to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

"In the coming days, the Dindi Lift Irrigation scheme will be completed as it is linked with the Palamuru-Rangareddy project," he said and added that five reservoirs and a barrage would come to Devarakonda to address the water needs of the people.KCR urged the people to re-elect MLA D Ravindra Naik with a majority of 70,000-80,000 in the elections and he assured that an agricultural polytechnic college and industries would be established in the region to eliminate poverty.
