Congress govt ready to burden public with power tariff hikes, says KTR
KTR criticises Congress for raising power tariffs and failing to fulfill promises, questioning its financial management.
HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao has accused the Congress government of preparing to burden the public with electricity tariff hikes while failing to guarantee uninterrupted power supply.
In a tweet, KTR expressed his anger, stating that despite being in power for less than a year, the Congress is ready to increase power charges, adding pressure on the people.
KTR took aim at the government's handling of the electricity situation, pointing out that while there is no guarantee of power supply, "electric shocks" in the form of price hikes are guaranteed. He also claimed that the government's much-promoted free electricity schemes, like the Grihajyothi scheme, have not been effectively implemented, leaving citizens frustrated.
He further questioned the whereabouts of Rs 77,000 crore in loans accumulated by the Congress government in the past nine months, accusing it of mismanaging funds and offering no real relief to the people. KTR sarcastically remarked that under Congress’s incompetent leadership, the only things left for the public are power cuts and financial burdens.
His comments come at a time when concerns over rising electricity tariffs and unmet promises have become central to political debates in Telangana.
