Congress leading in Secunderabad Cantonment by-elections

Sri Ganesh of the Congress party is leading with a majority of 11,220 against BJP rival Dr Vamsha Tilak.

HYDERABAD: Congress candidate Sri Ganesh is leading in the by-elections for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency.

According to the Election Commission of India's website, after 12 out of 20 rounds of counting, Sri Ganesh of the Congress party is leading with a majority of 11,220 votes against his nearest rival, Dr T.N. Vamsha Tilak of the BJP. BRS candidate Niveditha Sayanna is currently in third position.

The by-elections for Secunderabad Cantonment were necessitated following the tragic death of the sitting MLA, Lasya Nanditha, who was killed in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road in February this year. Her sister, Niveditha Sayanna, was nominated as the BRS candidate in the by-elections.
