Congress MLC candidates file nominations for by-elections

HYDERABAD: Congress party MLC candidates Mahesh Kumar Goud and Balmoor Venkat on Thursday submitted their nominations for the upcoming legislative council by-elections under the MLAs quota.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, along with several ministers and AICC Telangana in-charge Deepadas Munshi, accompanied the candidates during the nomination process. The candidates are seeking to fill the two vacant positions left by the resignations of BRS MLCs Kadiyam Srihari and Padi Kaushik Reddy on December 9, 2023.

The by-elections for the legislative council will be held on January 29, and the counting will take place on the same day. Considering their strength in the Assembly, the Congress is likely to win the two seats in the council.
