Congress pushed Singareni into losses, BRS turned it into profitable venture: KCR
Singareni has 134 years of history and it was our property back then. But the Congress Government pushed it into debt in their 30-40 years of rule in united Andhra Pradesh
KHAMMAM: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has urged the youth of Telangana to learn about the history of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and how the coal mining company turned into a profiteering venture due to BRS' governance.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kothagudem on Sunday, "Singareni has 134 years of history and it was our property back then. But the Congress Government pushed it into debt in their 30-40 years of rule in united Andhra Pradesh. The Congress Government couldn't repay the debts to the Centre. So the Centre got 49 per cent of the total stake today.
"After the BRS Government came to power, we changed the fate of SCCL by giving an increment of 3 per cent. The company's turnout increased to Rs 33,000 crore from Rs 11,000 crore. The profits increased to Rs 21,000 crores and we gave a bonus of Rs 700 crore to Singareni employees this Dasara.
"New opportunities were created in the company. Dependent jobs were removed by the Congress, the CPI, and the CPM Union, but the BRS Government provided jobs for dependents as it is an employee-friendly Government. No one believed in me when I stood for formation of Telangana State but now we are developing the State in a phased manner. Nobody heard of Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu. But I started implementing such schemes. Dalit Bandhu will be in place till all the Dalits get benefitted," said KCR.
Talking about the rise in groundwater level in Telangana, KCR said, "Telangana registered a phenomenal increase in groundwater levels which is the highest in India. The extractable groundwater resources had increased to 739 tmc ft which equals two times the capacity of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. We are constructing the Sita Rama Project and it will be completed soon, thereby the problems of farmers will be solved."
KCR asked the people not to believe in the false promises made by the opposition. Explaining how the situation of the state would be during elections, KCR asserted, "People's problems will be solved and they will have a better future if they choose a leader from a party that has good history. The BRS is such party that was solely formed to protect the interests of Telangana people.
"You have given power to thr Congress for over 50 years and have assessed the development that took place before and after the formation of Telangana," he said.
The BRS president then said how Bhadradri Kothagudem district was formed and added, "If united Andhra Pradesh would have been there, then Bhadradri district wouldn't have been formed. A medical college has been established in Kothagudem, and better medical infrastructure has been set up in the district today. Dialysis centers have been established and those patients are also given pensions."
