Continuous heavy rainfall soaks Hyderabad, more expected
Heavy rain in Hyderabad since early Saturday caused by a depression in the Bay of Bengal, with more rainfall expected.

HYDERABAD: A depression that formed in the Bay of Bengal intensified, resulting in continuous rainfall across Hyderabad since early Saturday.
The highest recorded rainfall was in Hayathnagar with 3.55 cm, followed by Saroor Nagar with 3.45 cm, and Vanasthalipuram with 3.40 cm. Other areas like Bandlaguda, Musheerabad, Malkajgiri, and Nagole saw rainfall ranging between 3.35 cm and 3.13 cm. In the Old City, Yakutpura, Golconda, and Langer House recorded 3.0 cm, while Chandulal Baradari and Bahadurpura received 2.93 cm, and Rajendranagar 2.88 cm, according to TGDP authorities.
As the city's twin reservoirs began to overflow, the Hyderabad Mayor, Vijayalakshmi, urged field officers to remain vigilant. Given the forecast for continued heavy rains over the next three days, Water Board MD Ashok Reddy advised officials to alert residents in the Musi river basin and keep emergency teams and SPT vehicles on standby.
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty directed the officials to take necessary precautions to avoid any disruptions due to the heavy rains expected over the next two days. In anticipation of the severe weather, he announced a holiday for all government schools on Monday.
