CRPF defuse Maoist beer bottle bombs set up to target police in Pamunuru
The Maoist leaders, who knew that the police would be coming to the Pamunuru forest area, planted bombs in beer bottles
MULUGU: In an incident where luck favoured police officials of the Mulugu district, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was able to track down and diffuse ‘beer bottle bombs’ and landmines set up by Maoists in the Pamunuru forest area.
According to Eturnagaram Assistant Superintendent of Police Sirishetty Sankeerth, police troops were on their way to the forest area after receiving intel that top Maoist leaders entered Telangana from Chattisgarh. The Maoist leaders, who knew that the police would be coming to the Pamunuru forest area, planted bombs in beer bottles and set up landmines.
However, the alert police defused the bombs and saved their own lives. They seized the material used to make the bombs like the electricity wires, beer bottles, bolts, copper seal, and gunpowder. The police also registered cases against top Maoist leaders Chandranna, Damodar, Kanakala Rajireddy, Mangu and Sudhakar at Venkatapuram police station.
