Deadline for LRS 2020 extended to March 31, CM asks officials to enhance tax collections
The Telangana Government has decided to regularise applications under the Land Regularisation Scheme 2020 and has set March 31 as the deadline to approve layouts.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has decided to regularise applications received under the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS) 2020 to boost revenues.
The state government has allowed applicants to regularise their layouts by March 31. However, layouts related to Endowment, Waqf, Government lands, and those under litigation in various courts will not be considered for regularisation.
While the initiative is expected to benefit nearly 20 lakh lower and middle-class applicants, the State Government anticipates a substantial boost in revenue through regularisation fees and other charges.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed all departments to achieve the annual targets set for tax collections. He reviewed the tax collections of the Commercial Taxes, Excise, Registrations, Transport, Mines, and Minerals Departments for 2023-24 at a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday. He inquired about the large gap between the tax target and revenue in the Commercial Taxes Department. Officials explained that until last year, the central government did not disburse more than Rs 4,000 crores under GST compensation. Due to the non-receipt of these funds within the specified deadline, the difference in revenue is noticeable.
The Chief Minister ordered a halt to non-duty paid liquor from neighbouring states entering the state. He suggested that discrepancies in calculations related to the supply and sale of liquor should be addressed with strict action. CCTV cameras should be installed at every distillery.
CM Revanth Reddy directed that liquor delivery vehicles should be equipped with GPS for tracking, a bottle tracking system should be in place, and the bills of liquor delivery vehicles should be accurate. He instructed officials to submit a progress report on past cases involving non-duty-paid liquor.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and senior officials participated in the review.
