JADCHERLA: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has cautioned people not to believe in the Congress and its false promises and said that the party which promised 20 hours of uninterrupted quality power supply, shrunk it to five hours within a few months after coming to power in Karnataka.

Addressing the ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ at Jadcherla on Wednesday, KCR said that the TPCC president had claimed that three hours of power would be sufficient for farmers. “If voted to power, the Congress would implement power cuts because it never keeps its word,” the BRS Chief said.

Recalling how the BRS Government has undertaken the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) that would change the face of Jadcherla by irrigating 1.5 lakh acres in the constituency, KCR said that spineless Congress leaders opted to source water for the district from the Priyadarshini Jurala Project which had limited capacity.

“As 2 TMC that the Jurala could provide won't be sufficient for a drought-prone district, I opted for the backwaters of Srisailam. Now we can lift water and store it in Narlapur, Edula, Vattem, Karivena and Uddandapur reservoirs,” KCR said and added that Congress leaders moved heaven and earth to derail the project.

"We fought and secured every single permission one after another and then I inaugurated the project," the Chief Minister said. He assured the people of Jadcherla that there would be no drought in the future.

"In addition to agriculture, Jadcherla, with its close proximity to Shamshabad and Hyderabad, will soon transform into an IT and industrial hub.

"With the completion of Mission Bhagiratha, Kalwakurthy Nettempadu and Koilsagar projects, Palamur will turn into a golden hub. I recently traveled by bus and now the transformation is visible," he said and added that the once dried-up Dundhubhi river had now revived and all the check dams on the way to Kollapur were brimming with water.

KCR added that the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district faced hunger and pain during the rule of Congress in undivided Andhra Pradesh. “The district is close to my heart as its people faced grief. There was hunger, drought and exodus in search of employment. I traveled across this region extensively along with Prof Jayashankar, the idealogue of Telangana,” KCR recalled.

He said that even the forest on the way from Narayanpet to Mahbubnagar was weak and lackluster, the Nadigadda stream was dry and there were ‘Ambali’ centres to feed the hungry people everywhere before Telangana was formed. “In 1956, it was a small mistake. The then-leaders of Telangana momentarily forgot the past and merged Telangana with Andhra Pradesh. As a result, we weee devastated,” he recalled.

“Mahbubnagar suffered even though a brimming Krishna River was flowing nearby. I took the decision that I will transform Mahbubnagar, and the first step was contesting from here as a Member of Parliament (MP). When the State was finallt formed, I I was the siting MP from Mahbubnagar,” KCR said.

He added that the State of Telangana was formed after many sacrifices. “Even I took the risk, went close to death,” he said. The BRS chief reminded the people that he designed the Rytu Bandhu scheme, and cleared up to Rs 37,000 crore worth of crop loans. He predicted that Telangana would be the top State in the country within ten years.

The Chief Minister assured that the Government would sanction rural and traffic police stations to Jadcherla and a quick rehabilitation package for the oustees of the Udhandapur reservoir.
