HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Batti Vikramarka Mallu has urged the officials to expedite the completion of the Yadadri Thermal Power Project.
Bhatti, along with Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, visited the under-construction thermal power project in Damaracharla mandal, Nalgonda district, on Saturday. They held a review meeting with the project officials, who gave a video presentation detailing the current development works in the power plant.
Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, being familiar with the project from their tenure as MPs, emphasised their commitment to its progress. The Deputy CM directed officials to collaborate closely with the ministers to ensure project completion. Concerns were raised about the project's escalating budget burdening the state exchequer. He emphasised the urgency of completing the project to alleviate this financial strain. He also warned of potential reputational damage to the public sector company BHEL if the project faced further delays.
Uttam Kumar Reddy inquired about interest rates on the loans taken for the project. At the same time, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy stressed the importance of supporting locals in sub-contracts and minor works. The ministers sought details on the project's impact on the environment and local water sources. The ministers acknowledged the global shift towards renewable energy and emphasised the timely completion of the Yadadri Thermal Power Project.
Addressing employment concerns, the ministers sought details on the origin of current unskilled labourers and stressed the importance of providing opportunities for local skilled and unskilled workers. The officials assured that locals would be considered for employment opportunities post-project completion. They also recommended the appointment of a competent officer to oversee project completion and coordination with ministers for pending works like roads and railways.
Deputy CM Vikramarka Mallu said round-the-clock support from senior ministers and authorities would be there to ensure project completion, emphasising a zero-tolerance policy for negligence.
