ECI gives nod for Telangana cabinet meeting with conditions

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India (ECI), which had not permitted the Telangana cabinet meeting on May 18, has given the nod for a Telangana cabinet meeting on Sunday.

The ECI, however, allowed the cabinet meeting under certain conditions. According to the ECI, only urgent matters requiring immediate implementation will be discussed, with a focus on issues that cannot be postponed until June 4, 2024.

Accordingly, agenda items concerning the common capital of Hyderabad and crop loan waiver will be deferred until the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election in Telangana. Additionally, no state government officer involved in the election conduct will be summoned to attend the meetings, as per the ECI's circular.
