Former APCC president V Hanumantha Rao acted swiftly and escaped to fall in the prey of cyber fraudsters
HYDERABAD: APCC former president V Hanumantha Rao acted swiftly and escaped to fall in the prey of cyber fraudsters.
On Thursday evening, Hanumantha Rao received a phone call from 7801096535 in the name of former Minister and MP Hari Rama Jogaiah. The fraudsters on the pretext of Hari Rama Jogaiah said that he was ill and requested Hanumantha Rao to transfer Rs 3,000 to his Phonepay number 9652196535 to purchase medicines.
Instead of transferring the money, Hanumantha Rao sent one of his friends from Rajamahendravaram to Hari Rama Jogaiah's residence with Rs 5,000. However, Hari Rama Jogaiah refused to take the money and said that he never asked for any financial assistance from anyone. Realising that cyber fraudsters tried to dupe him, Hanumantha Rao filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad on Friday.
The former APCC president also appealed to the police to take a serious note of the matter and initiate stern action against those cyber fraudsters.
