Former MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy arrested during protest march in Kodangal
Police arrested former MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy during a protest march against a pharma company in Kodangal.
HYDERABAD: Former MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy was arrested on Wednesday during a protest march against a pharmaceutical company in Kodangal. The police intervened and detained Narendra Reddy while he was leading a march in support of local farmers.
Narendra Reddy had planned to begin the protest from the Polepally Ellamma temple to the Dudwal Mandal Revenue Office, expressing opposition to the pharma company on behalf of the farmers. However, the police stopped him at Tunkimetla, citing the lack of permission for the protest. Along with Narendra Reddy, former minister Srinivas Goud and MLC Naveen Kumar Reddy were also taken into custody.
After the arrest, all three were initially moved from Kodangal to Parigi police station and later transported towards Shadnagar for further proceedings. The protest aimed to highlight the grievances of farmers affected by the activities of the pharma company.
