Former PCC president D Srinivas passes away, Revanth Reddy, Chandrababu offer condolences
Former Minister Dharmapuri Srinivas passed away following prolonged ill health. His family said he died of a heart attack at 3 a.m. on Saturday.
HYDERABAD: Former Minister Dharmapuri Srinivas passed away following prolonged ill health. His family said he died of a heart attack at 3 a.m. on Saturday. Srinivas served as a minister, MP, and PCC president in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. His second son, Dharmapuri Arvind, is an MP from Nizamabad. His elder son Sanjay is a former mayor of Nizamabad.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy condoled the passing away of D Srinivas. The Chief Minister recalled that D Srinivas, fondly called DS, played an important role as PCC president and rendered exceptional service to the Congress party for a long time.
He remembered D Srinivas, who ascended to greater heights from a Congress worker as a role model for many political leaders. “The senior most Congress leader also made his mark during the Telangana movement and his long political stint in the Congress,” he said in his message. CM Revanth Reddy prayed to God for the departed soul to rest in peace. The CM conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members.
He also directed the Chief Secretary to arrange for DS's funeral with official honours.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condoled the death of the senior Congress leader. Chandrababu said that Srinivas made his mark as a minister and MP. His death was shocking, he said. He said Srinivas always played politics and worked for the ideology he believed in. AP CM conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, former Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, former CLP leader K Jana Reddy, and Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender were among others who offered condolences to the departed soul.
