HYDERABAD: Telangana Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has promised that that the Congress guarantee of giving gas cylinder for Rs 500 will be implemented in the next 100 days.

Uttam conducted a review meeting with officials on grain production in the State at the Secretariat on Tuesday. On the occasion, Uttam said that measures were being taken to provide quality ration rice to the poor.

"About 12 per cent of consumers shared that they did not use ration cards. Some people are diverting PDS rice. The Congress Government will provide corruption-free and transparent Governance to the people," he said.

The officials explained the milling capacity and quality of rice being produced in the State to the minister. The officials were directed to make the collection of grain from the farmers transparent.

Uttam said that the financial situation of civil supplies department was alarming. He said that it was in debt of Rs 56,000 crore. Uttam said that a decision would be taken on distribution new ration card applications soon.
