HYDERABAD: With the Meteorological Department issuing a red alert for Hyderabad due to continuous heavy rains, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has directed officials to remain on high alert and take all necessary measures to prevent any inconvenience to the public.

The Mayor emphasised the importance of monitoring the overflow of lakes and reservoirs and instructed officials to alert residents in low-lying areas about the potential risks. In case of emergencies, she advised the relocation of affected residents to rehabilitation centres to ensure their safety.

Mayor Vijayalakshmi also stressed the need to closely monitor the flow in stormwater drains and open canals, urging officials to warn nearby residents and take preventive actions as required. She also requested citizens to report any emergencies to the GHMC control room at 040-21111111, the My GHMC app, or the DRF (Hyderabad) helpline at 9000113667.

Additionally, the Mayor instructed town planning officials to be vigilant and take appropriate actions to prevent any accidents near dilapidated buildings, compound walls, and ongoing construction sites. The goal is to ensure that all precautionary measures are in place during this period of intense rainfall.
