HYDERABAD: Former Minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao emphasised the greatness of Indian culture, urging that it should be passed on to future generations.

During his visit to the Khairatabad Ganesh pandal, he expressed admiration for the dedication of the festival organisers, who have been installing the massive Ganesh idol for the past 70 years.

Harish Rao praised the Khairatabad Ganesh, calling it one of the most famous Ganesh idols globally. He noted that while Ganesh Chaturthi used to be synonymous with Mumbai, today, the entire country chants in praise of Khairatabad Ganesh Maharaj. He lauded the organisers for the monumental task of creating the largest Ganesh idol in the world, appreciating their efforts.

He highlighted the unity in Indian culture, where festivals like Dasara, Diwali, Bathukamma, Bonalu, Sri Rama Navami, and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated together with great joy. "Our culture is one of unity in diversity, and we always come together in times of need," he said, adding that it is the responsibility of everyone to carry this legacy forward.

Harish Rao also spoke about the emotional and historical significance of Ganesh Chaturthi, recalling how freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak used the festival to unite people during the independence movement. He urged that this tradition should be continued in the coming days.

The former minister acknowledged the hardships caused by recent unseasonal rains and floods across the state, expressing his wish that Lord Vighneshwara would remove these obstacles and bless the people of Telangana with good health and prosperity.
