HYDERABAD: Protests by Group-1 candidates continued today as a large number of them gathered at Ashok Nagar Crossroads, raising slogans against the Congress government.

The protesters demanded the immediate withdrawal of GO 29, claiming that it causes significant harm to SC, ST, BC, and minority students. They chanted, “No to GO 29, Yes to GO 55,” as they voiced their opposition to the current government order. The area reverberated with slogans like “CM Down Down,” as the candidates expressed their frustration with the ruling government.

The protest intensified when the candidates attempted to march from Ashok Nagar to the Secretariat. However, police blocked their rally at Indira Park and Ramakrishna Math. A heavy police presence was deployed along the route from Ashok Nagar to the Secretariat to prevent the protesters from advancing further. In response, the Group-1 candidates sat down on the roads, staging a sit-in protest.

The protest caused significant traffic jams in Ashok Nagar, Indira Park, and the surrounding areas near Lower Tank Bund, leading to widespread disruption for commuters. Despite the heavy police deployment, the candidates continued their demonstration, demanding justice and the withdrawal of GO 29.
