Harish Rao asks Centre to return Rs 495-cr CSS funds wrongly transferred to AP
T Harish Rao wrote another letter to Nirmala Sitharaman, asking the Centre to return the Rs 495 crore CSS funds
HYDERABAD: Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday wrote another letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, asking the Centre to return the Rs 495 crore Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) funds which were wrongly transferred to Andhra Pradesh.
The Telangana finance minister said that, in the first year after the bifurcation of the two Telugu speaking states, the funds coming from the Centre were divided between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana based on population. He said that these funds were however wrongly transferred to the neighbouring state and therefore Telangana had to face the losses.
“The government of Telangana has made numerous requests to the Government of India, Government of Andhra Pradesh and the accountant general to adjust the rightful share of Telangana in CSS matching grants. Our efforts have not borne any fruits so far,” said Harish Rao in his letter.
In the letter, Harish Rao requested the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to personally address the injustice meted out to Telangana.
