MANCHERIAL: Minister for Finance and Health T Harish Rao laid the foundation for the Rs 80.50 crore Padtanpalli Lift Irrigation Project in Hajipur of Mancherial district on Saturday.
‘This project with a lifting capacity of one TMC will irrigate every single acre in the Hajipur and Luxettipet areas. There will be no dearth of water in these mandals here once the project is completed,” Harish Rao said. He said that assured water from the project would help farmers reap two crops every year.
The lift irrigation projects would lift Godavari water from the left canal of Sripada Yellampalli to irrigate tail-end agricultural land under the D-42 canal of the Kaddem project. Around 4,900 acres of the tail-end never received water earlier. The project once completed would irrigate the leftover lands in nine villages of the submergence areas of the Yellampalli project.
The project with a capacity of lifting one TMC could take water to a height of 85 meters. Two pumps with a rating of 3.7 MW would stabilise 5,000 acres and also fulfill the drinking water demand in the villages adjacent to the project.
Gudipeta, Rapalli, Padtanpalli, Namnoor, Chandanapur, Karnamamidi, Kondapalli, Narsingapur, Peddampet, Kondapur, Sabbepalli, Vempalli, Hussainsagar, Hajipur, Mulkalla and Donabanda in Hajipur mandal and Gullakota and Mittapalli in Luxettipet mandals would benefit from the project.
