HYDERABAD: Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday slammed BJP Telangana President Bandi Sanjay and Union Minister Kishan Reddy, saying that they were stooping low with their lies against the TRS in utter disregard for democracy and politics. Harish Rao presented what he described as proof of their comments that the Union Government did not ask for electricity meters to be placed on motors.

Harish Rao said that while the TRS was focused on people's welfare with multiple schemes, the BJP was only trying to burden the public. He showed letters from the Union Ministry of Finance asking the Telangana Government to install meters on farmers' motors and charge them for electricity. He said that the letters also included undertakings asking the State to sign and offered incentives to promote lesser usage of electricity.

"KCR is determined to ensure that every sector gets free electricity. The Centre tried to bribe the State, saying that if we charge for electricity, it will give us 0.5 percent GSDP, which is Rs 6,000 crore per year. However, KCR refused that money and fought for free electricity to every sector. Kishan Reddy is questioning when the Centre has asked us to fix meters, here's the letter sent by the Government of India," said the Minister.

"Kishan Reddy told the media yesterday that the TRS had not done anything for Munugode in the last eight years. He should ask the people, housewives, farmers, elderly and everyone in Munugode about what the TRS did. Each house gets clean drinking water. They do not have to walk miles anymore. Farmers get electricity and schemes like Rythu Bandhu. Elderly are benefited with Aasara. There are multiple schemes benefitting not just the people of Munugode but everyone in Telangana," said the Finance Minister.
