Harish Rao slams Centre for denying funds to Telangana
Minister Harish Rao criticises the Centre for ignoring Telangana in fund allocations, while Andhra Pradesh receives special grants.
HYDERABAD: Former Minister T Harish Rao has expressed strong discontent over the central government’s decision to allocate Rs 100 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the Godavari Pushkaralu festival, while Telangana was left out without any funds. He criticised both the BJP and Congress for failing to secure any financial support for Telangana despite their significant representation in the state.
Harish Rao pointed out that Telangana has eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers, yet the state did not receive even a single rupee from the Centre. In contrast, Andhra Pradesh was granted Rs 15,000 crore under special funds, with Telangana receiving nothing.
In a tweet, Harish Rao stated that if the Bharat Rashtra Samithi had a stronger presence in the Lok Sabha, such injustice would never have been tolerated. He emphasised that the Centre’s neglect of Telangana, especially in important funding matters, is unacceptable.
